GRAND PRAIRIE –

On May 18, 2024, the David Nicklas Organ Donor Awareness Foundation proudly launched the first-ever Read to Run program at Epic Central in Grand Prairie, Texas. Organized in partnership with the Coalition for Literacy and Grand Prairie ISD, this new initiative was created to inspire young students to strengthen both their minds and bodies through reading and movement.
In its inaugural year, Read to Run made a tremendous impact—providing more than 500 pairs of brand-new running shoes to 3rd and 4th grade students from three Grand Prairie elementary schools. Each participating child earned their shoes by reading 10 books in just 12 weeks, demonstrating dedication, curiosity, and a commitment to learning.
The celebration at Epic Central brought together students, families, educators, and community leaders for a day of encouragement and recognition. The Nicklas Foundation is honored to support local children in building confidence, developing healthy habits, and discovering the joy of reading.
